One of the biggest changes to Uskor is the dismantling of the mega minister, the Ministry for State Security. A goal of Prime Minister Calabresi-Halvorsen’s was to dismantle the communist holdover.

Long serving Minister for State Security Charlotte Katrinsdottir herself voted in favour of the abolition of her own ministry.

"Things change, and so too should the government. I remember the glorious revolution that brought our democracy, this is part of that process...". Minister Katrinsdottir during the debate.

The reforms are part of Calabresi-Halvorsen’s machinery of government reforms which has seen the whole of the Uskorian government slowly transform away from the communist past and embrace new ideas and democracy under a monarchy.

These reforms are part of my efforts to drag the Uskorian machinery of government from communist totalitarianism to democratic and monarchist ideals, whilst maintaining efficiency and the best service for the Uskorian people. Prime Minister Runa Calabresi-Halvorsen

“The statement and actions of Runa Calabresi-Halvorsen and the hard-leftist majority of the Law Thing do run contrary to the alleged communist ideals some of the members here profess” A People’s Party member during the short parliamentary debate.

The Ministry for State Security will officially be wound up on the 30th of June with the new Ministries and agencies taking their place from the 1st of July with the Ministry for Defence taking over the responsibility for Defence and the rest being split into the Ministry for Civil Defence and National Resilience.

The other major piece of legislation that was passed is the Uskorian Law Enforcement (Powers and Responsibilities) Act based off the New South Wales legislation of a similar name.

The Act outlines the powers of the Royal Guard in arresting people, when they can search

and a raft of other policing powers including those of the Coast Guard and explicitly outlaws’ certain practices that politicians of all types in Uskor have condemned in both the United States and in New South Wales.

The Act also establishes a special independent oversight and complaints body.

Other major measures passed include the adoption of acts and decrees from during the state of emergency for COVID-19 and changing the official name of the currency to Crowns and making Norwegian an official language of Uskor.

In other news from the Law Thing Calabresi-Halvorsen has created a record budget of 6170 Crowns to spend on culture, the services and other assorted things.
