The last three days have been busy in Jarls Hall and Castle Winter in Freyavik as Her Majesty the High Queen finally granted her Royal Assent to the the new constitution which was voted on around a month ago by the Uskorian people.

The constitution is unique in modern Uskorian political history as it was amended by the

Legislative Assembly (now called the Legislative Council) and approved by the people in a referendum, where as the last few amendments to the constitution where amended directly by the people in the Great Assembly.

Her Majesty the High Queen also gave her assent to the Antiquities Act, the Royal Guards Act and the Official Languages Act.

The Official Languages Act officially enshrines the English language as the language of State and Law, and drops German and Swedish as official languages of Uskor in favour of Anglish and the Uskorian Language.

The Official Languages Act also allows for both the Latin alphabet and the runic alphabets to be used for both Anglish and Uskorian.

A spokesperson for the Uskorian Language Council hailed the act stating " we welcome this as a positive step towards normalising the use of Uskorian within the culture of our Commonwealth".

The passage of the of Antiquities Act wasn't without some questioning with Sir Rob Banks MLC of the Independent List Party stating in the Legislative Council the he broadly supports the bill "...but not a huge fan of section 3.1 of antiquities bill - "continuing ancient culture" is vague (does Tsarist Russia, which can be dubiously linked to ancient Rome and existed post-18th century, count?) and "prehistorical" as a concept centres cultures that use writing, but don't know exactly how to actually approach things. Strong objection to "beginning of human civilisation" in that section as ambiguous/subject to interpretation and unnecessary - could use "human-made objects" instead, perhaps, but this may fail to protect culturally important natural landscapes (cf. Uluru, Six Grandfathers).3.3 could also be expanded to define "cultural landscapes" - are these metaphorical landscapes, actual bits of land, or somewhere in between? Have a strong feeling the bill is trying to cover a concept like "sacred ground" but don't know how securely it does as written.".

Following from the vote in the Legislative Council the bill regarding the constitution was then put to the Uskorian People in a referendum that lasted from Wednesday the 27th of November to Friday the 29th and resulted in 60% of those who voted approving the referendum at the same

referendum Her Majesty's proposal to allow for citizen initiated referenda failed with only 27% voting in favour.

The new constitution is said to expand the powers of the High Queen and define the role of many government institutions and offices as well as provide for the demise of the Crown.

Her Majesty on the advice of Prime Minister the Jarl of Lundevik issued letters patent stripping non citizen non residents of all Uskorian titles and awards with the exception of two indviduals the current Chairman of the Grand Unified Micronational (GUM) and Mr Daniel Anderson of Sirocco and New Zealand.

Sources close to Jarls Hall in Freyavik suggest that whilst the letters patent are "scatter gun" in there approach it would probably "fair to say that it is aimed at a certain European power".

In other news Her Majesty has announced that she will be in Northern Europe during the end of February and the first weeks of March.
